
Nikola Tsolov defeated F2 championship rival Gabriele Mini in a thrilling battle for victory in the sprint race at Silverstone, taking the chequered flag just 1.2 seconds ahead of the MP Motorsport driver after a last-lap overtake.
Rafael Villagomez rounded out the podium in the British Grand Prix support race, for a second-successive trip to the rostrum in the shorter F2 race
Kush Maini and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak came home in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Dino Beganovic, Roman Bilinski and Joshua Durksen completed the points-paying positions, whilst Rafael Camara took the extra point for setting the fastest lap of those who finished in the top 10 during the 21-lap race.
Tsolov, who is heavily linked with a move to Racing Bulls in F1, pulled level with Mini in the standings, taking top spot on countback with more victories.
Whilst there is still a long way to go, it is a valuable result with the title fight being fiercely contested between the pair.
John Bennett stopped on the main straight on lap 6, bringing out the safety car after an incident with Sebastian Montoya, who also retired, and Colton Herta.
Nicolas Varrone was handed a five-second time penalty for causing a collision, and Martinius Stenshorne was given a 10-second punishment for his battle with Camara.
