2026 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix - Budapest weather forecast

The 2026 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest is at risk of potential rainstorms through what is set to be an otherwise hot weekend.

Temperatures for the 11th race of the 2026 season are set to be around the 25-to-30 degree Celsius mark throughout the track action, but there is a chance that rain could impact running on both Friday and in Sunday's 70-lap grand prix.

On Friday, the opening practice session is at the greatest risk of being impacted by rain as a rainstorm system works its way down continental Europe and is due to pass to the East of Budapest and largely impact eastern Hungary, Moldova, Ukraine, Poland, and Romania. The scattered system should pass in time for Friday afternoon's second practice session, with Saturday set to feature a zero per cent chance of rain.

For Sunday's grand prix, a seperate storm system will slowly make its way across southern Europe from the Atlantic over the course of the week, and is due to hit Budapest on Sunday.

However, the race is set for a 15:00 local time start, when this storm system is forecast to be over northern Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, and southern Austria, but moving eastwards across the continent into Hungary.

At race start time, there is an estimated 17% chance of rain, which grows to around 50% by midnight into Monday morning, which would mean it largely impacts the pack-up operations for the grand prix, and not the race itself.

As for the wind direction, on Friday, it will be coming from the north-west, roughly corresponding to a headwind into Turn 1, but this flips around for Saturday with a south-westerly direction, leading to a tailwind into Turn 4.

For the race itself, the wind will continue from the south-west.
