Lewis Hamilton has been backed for a "vintage" season at Ferrari, if it delivers enough "incentives" to him.
Hamilton is facing arguably the most important year in his F1 career in his second campaign with Ferrari, following his poor debut year in which he failed to score a grand prix podium for the first time in his career.
Hamilton also failed to gel with his race engineer Riccardo Adami, who was removed from his position last week, with a replacement yet to be announced, days before the behind-closed-doors Barcelona test.
However, despite his struggles, seven-time champion Hamilton has been tipped for a "vintage" season if Ferrari can deliver for him by the man who lured Hamilton from McLaren to Mercedes for 2013.
"I think we'd all love for him to be successful, and I've got a special place for Ferrari, but I know how tough it is," Ross Brawn told Sky Sports F1.
"It is always a fine line between a team gelling and not quite gelling, and it didn't quite gel last year.
"But if he gets some incentives, if he sees an opportunity, I think we'll see a vintage Lewis, so I'm hoping that happens."
