FIA issue clarity over Australian GP pit lane speed limit

The FIA has confirmed that the speed limit in the pit lane for the Australian Grand Prix will not be reduced this year.

Earlier this week, a report emerged in which the Australian GP's chief events officer Tom Mottram detailed the change.

He stated the pit lane speed limit will be reduced from 80 km/h to 60 km/h in order to accommodate the extra congestion in the pit lane this year, with Cadillac joining as an 11th team.

He added that he hoped it would be a once-off measure.

The alleged change would have had major ramifications when it comes to the strategy for the grand prix, as a decision for an extra trip to the pits would cause longer stops.

However, the FIA has since confirmed to RacingNews365 that the speed limit will remain at 80 km/h.
