DS announces Formula E team exit after 11-year stay

DS Automobiles has announced that it will leave Formula E after an 11-year stay in the championship. 

The Stellantis-owned brand will depart at the conclusion of the current season, to focus on golf and Sail GP. 

While it is exiting the series, fellow Stellantis brand Opel is widely reported to join the category for the Gen4 era from next season. 

However, it will not be taking the licence of DS Penske, due to that being owned by Penske and with it set to continue in the championship. 

Across its 11-year stint, DS secured two drivers' and two manufacturers' titles in the Gen2 era, with 18 victories secured overall. 

"After 11 years of pioneering commitment to Formula E, 18 victories, two drivers’ and two manufacturers’ titles, DS Automobiles has demonstrated its ability to transform competition into a high-tech reality, illustrated by our latest DS N°4, DS N°7 and DS N°8 models," said Xavier Peugeot, DS CEO.
