Lewis Hamilton has hit the track in Fiorano as Ferrari conducts crucial F1 testing for Pirelli.

Lewis Hamilton is testing for Ferrari at Fiorano in a critical F1 wet-weather tyre test for Pirelli.

The two-day test is taking place at Ferrari's home track, where Pirelli can artificially wet the track to gather data on the performance of its wet tyres.

During the running, Hamilton and Ferrari are unaware of any tyre compounds and cannot conduct any performance running or evaluate new upgrades, with Pirelli dictating the run plans to gather the data it needs.

Pirelli had planned to conduct wet-weather testing in Bahrain at the start of March, but this was cancelled due to the outbreak of the Iran War, with Mercedes planned to take part before the test was called off.

Essentially, Pirelli has 'rented' Hamilton and Ferrari for today's running, with Charles Leclerc set to drive the SF-26 on Friday, on the second day of the test.

Ferrari does have a filming day test planned for Monza on April 22nd.
