Oliver Bearman provides fresh health update after monster 50G crash

It was a nasty accident for Oliver Bearman in Japan - one which has prompted major discussions between F1, the teams, and the FIA.

Oliver Bearman has given a fresh health update after his monster 50G crash in the Japanese GP last month.

The Haas driver slammed into the barrier broadside after being caught out by huge closing speeds whilst attempting to pass Alpine's Franco Colapinto, with the incident confirming the fears of some drivers about the danger of closing speeds in the new regulations.

Bearman was seen to limp away from the accident and was originally diagnosed with just a "contusion" on his right knee and bruising, but was otherwise in good health.

The Briton did not address the media as a driver is normally required to do, having received a waiver from the FIA after attending the medical centre and was captured on fan video limping onto a train the day following the race as he returned home.

Just under three weeks on from the smash, measured at 50G, Bearman has now provided a fresh health update.

"Yeah, I'm all good, thank you for asking, I appreciate it," Bearman told Sportbible.

"It was tough [travelling home] just because obviously after [the crash], I wasn't moving very much.

"I had a bit of swelling on the knee, but everything's okay now, luckily, it was the right knee, so I was okay.

"Actually, I was back driving on the simulator by Wednesday or Thursday, because my brother and I were practicing for an endurance race on the weekend.

"It could have been a lot worse. So very, very thankful and looking forward to getting back out in Miami."
