Lando Norris feels there are "no excuses" for McLaren's Miami Grand Prix defeat after he was undercut by Kimi Antonelli for the win.
After stealing the lead on the safety car restart, Norris was then undercut by Mercedes' Antonelli after his Lap 27 pit-stop, with the McLaren sitting around 1-1.5s behind over the second-half of the race, but unable to mount an attack.
Ultimately, Antonelli eased to a third straight win as Sprint race winner Norris settled for second place - the first grand prix podium of the season for the reigning world champion.
Detailing his reaction, Norris was gracious in defeat, but felt that McLaren had "no excuses" for the defeat.
"I mean, it was a mixed bag, really. We just got undercut, there are no excuses other than that, we got undercut," Norris explained.
"We should have boxed first. Kimi did a good job, and hats off to Mercedes and Kimi, they drove a good race, and it was easy to make mistakes out there with the big braking zones and with these cars, but he didn't make any big enough for me to capitalise on.
"I have to be happy, I'm gutted to miss out here in Miami, the win was possible, but I didn't have the pace to get back past him in the end, so we take it on the chin.
"Today was about who could make the least mistakes, push in the right areas, and it was tough, you have to be tactical with how you use the battery, and you just get easily caught up and caught out badly.
"But I did a good job, and the team did a good job all weekend, so I have to be proud of everyone."
