Toto Wolff believes "killer" George Russell will be able to quickly put his Miami Grand Prix disappointment behind him in the F1 title race.
Russell was comprehensively outperformed by team-mate Kimi Antonelli in Miami, and although he did cut the Italian's lead to seven points in the Sprint race, this was owing to Antonelli's time penalty for track limits, which dropped him to sixth, having finished fourth on the road.
Antonelli then roared to a third straight grand prix pole, which he converted into a third straight win, whilst Russell had an eventful afternoon from fifth, passing the ailing Charles Leclerc for fourth at the final corner of the last lap.
This fourth place earned him 12 points, which, coupled with Antonelli's haul of 25, meant the lead ballooned from single figures to 20 points heading to Miami.
Throughout the weekend, Russell was at pains to point out his relative dislike of the Miami circuit, as Wolff defended his team leader after the difficult weekend.
"I've always said that George wouldn't be a grand prix winner if he wasn't a killer," Wolff reflected to media, including RacingNews365.
"These things, by the way he analyses them, look at the data and come to his conclusions, and the conclusion is that he's never been quite at ease with the track.
"He's never really liked the smooth surface, and that's it.
"[Just] tick the box, and tomorrow, he is looking forward to Montreal, and there are 18 races to go.
"There are many points to score, I don't think he sees any relevance from his side to think about what could be [the impact of Miami] at the end of the year."
