A race-winning helmet used by Ayrton Senna has sold for an eye-watering £500,000 at auction.
The iconic yellow helmet was used by the Brazilian during the 1992 British, Hungarian, and Belgian Grands Prix, and was used during his victory at the Hungaroring and has now sold for half-a-million GBP.
The estimate was around £80,000-£120,000.
Although Senna claimed victory in that race, it marked the end of his reign as the world champion, with Nigel Mansell's second place enough to secure the Williams driver the drivers' title.
The Shoei helmet "shows extensive signs of race use, including stone chips" and has been confirmed as the helmet used in the three races.
It is not the most expensive Senna helmet sold, with the helmet he wore during the 1992 Belgian GP, when he ran across the track to save Erik Comas' life after an accident fetching £720,000 in April 2025.
Senna retired at Silverstone and then finished second in Germany to Mansell.
The helmet was part of an auction of memorabilia being sold, with other lots including signed items from Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc.
