Cadillac issues statement of intent with major F1 ‘technical leadership’ hires

Cadillac Formula 1 team has announced the signing of three major technical appointments to its ranks in a statement of intent by the team.

The Silverstone-based squad has undergone some drastic changes as it continues to grapple with the challenges of what is its maiden campaign in the sport,

Marcin Budkowski joined as Team Principal in place of Graeme Lowdon last month, amid its bold ambitions to run the team from its three hubs across the Atlantic.

And now it has added three notable hires to its technical division to further strengthen its core team to uphold its lofty ambitions.

Craig Skinner, a free agent since departing Red Bull as its Chief Designer in February, joins as Chief Development Engineer, and will be a conduit between concept, aerodynmaics and the reality of its next challenger.

Former Mercedes aerodynamicist Eric Blandin has also joined, having been similarly open to work since leaving Aston Martin as its Deputy Technical Director in May.

The Frenchman, who also boasts experience with Ferrari and Red Bull, will be its Head of Aerodynamics, working alongside Nick Chester.

And Tim Lean, another ex-Red Bull alumnus who also has the benefit of a decade with McLaren, is the team’s new Chief Engineer for Aerodynamics Modelling and Simulation.

Team Principal Budkowski said: “These appointments represent a vital step in the technical evolution of the team.

“Bringing together experienced leadership across development, aerodynamics and modelling will help us create a stronger integrated technical organization and improve performance on track. Craig, Eric and Tim bring race and championship-winning experience to Cadillac F1 in areas that are central to our long-term development.”
