Charles Leclerc calls for Ferrari action after latest worry

Charles Leclerc has insisted Ferrari “must react” to recent upgrades installed on the cars of rival teams.

Last time out at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, McLaren and Red Bull brought notable upgrades to their challengers as they sought to take a step forward in performance.

Ferrari, meanwhile, was without an upgrade in Baku and endured its fifth consecutive grand prix without an appearance on the podium.

While Leclerc acknowledged that the layout of the track isn't best suited to the SF26's characteristics, he admitted that its rivals have made a jump forward.

“I don't think this track particularly suits our car,” Leclerc told media including RacingNews365. 

“But it's also true to say that McLaren and Red Bull did a step forward with the upgrades they are bringing, and that they have brought recently. 

“They did a step forward that we didn't do, and we must react because losing some pace now is going to be very difficult to then take it back.

“Hopefully we can react very soon.”

Ferrari has 'a few things coming' to F1 car

Ferrari currently sit second in the constructors' championship, 72 points ahead of McLaren, who endured a miserable race in Baku, finishing outside the points.

But with Leclerc wary of the threat that is posed to Ferrari's runner-up position, he confirmed that it has more upgrades in the pipeline.

“We've got a few things coming,” he said.

“Whether it's going to be enough to close the gap, not knowing what the others have in store as well, is another matter. 

“But we've got few things that shall help us do some steps forward.”
