Charles Leclerc sounds personal warning after Ferrari breakthrough

Charles Leclerc has struggled for performance more often than not lately, but Saturday's qualifying session was a more positive affair.

Charles Leclerc has issued a note of personal caution despite securing a strong qualifying result at the British Grand Prix.

The Monegasque driver qualified second, claiming his second consecutive front-row start.

However, Leclerc has endured a difficult run of form in recent races and has often been unable to match the pace of Ferrari team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

Although Leclerc out-qualified Hamilton on the seven-time world champion’s home soil, he fell just short of Kimi Antonelli, who secured his fifth pole position of the season.

Reflecting on his result, Leclerc said: “Yes, I'm pleased.

“It's been a few tough races where the feeling was not quite right, where I was struggling to put everything together.

“On the Sundays, we've had things that sometimes we couldn't score points, so to be back with a good feeling, there's been so much work behind the scenes to get back that feeling inside the car.

“Today is probably the first time where I had it back, so that is a good thing.”

However, Leclerc stated that it's too early to say if he is permanently on top of the struggles.

“At the same time, I know how much I've struggled to be consistent recently, so it's only the beginning, but it's a good step in the right direction,” he said.

“I just didn't have much pace recently, so you've got to look at every single thing you do.”
