Nine-time motorcycling world champion Marc Marquez has branded Max Verstappen a "killer", with the Spaniard admitting he is a huge fan of the Red Bull driver.
Marquez is one of the greatest motorcycle riders in history, with seven of his nine world titles having come in MotoGP, while he claimed one title in each of the championship's two feeder categories.
The Ducati rider is in attendance at this weekend's Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix as a guest of Audi, with the German manufacturer serving as a partner of the Italian outfit.
Like Verstappen, Marquez has a remarkable number of records to his name, while the 33-year-old recently returned from a brief absence following shoulder surgery.
Marquez is one of the biggest names not only in motorcycling but in motorsport as a whole, and he is just as passionate about four wheels as he is about two.
"I love motorsport," Marquez told RacingNews365 during an exclusive interview.
"It doesn't matter whether it's four wheels or two wheels. And, of course, I follow Formula 1 a lot because it's the top category on four wheels."
When it comes to Marquez's favourite driver in the F1 paddock, he naturally has admiration for his fellow Spaniards, Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso.
However, it is Verstappen who catches his eye the most, with Marquez being a fan of the four-time world champion's "killer" instinct.
"I like Max Verstappen a lot. He is a killer. Of course, there's Fernando, and also Carlos Sainz, the Spanish drivers, but Max Verstappen is one of my favourites."
Marquez and Verstappen are both once-in-a-generation athletes in their respective sports, but what does he believe makes the Red Bull star so special?
"[He is] talented and has a strong mentality. No secrets," concluded Marquez.
