Fernando Alonso reveals Adrian Newey conversations to turn Aston Martin around

Aston Martin is yet to deliver any major upgrades in 2026 - but a huge package is on the way for Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.

Fernando Alonso has detailed conversations he has had with Adrian Newey to try to turn around Aston Martin's poor start to 2026.

From the first seven races, Aston Martin has just one point, through Alonso's 10th in Monaco, but the AMR26 machine has largely been rooted to the bottom of the timesheets as the team struggles with the chassis and engine.

Other problems affecting the car include loss of gear-sync at slow speed after the team built its own gearbox for the first time for 2026, with the Barcelona GP seeing the team firmly slowest of all, even behind newcomers Cadillac.

No upgrades will be delivered to the car until a huge package around the time of the summer break, but Alonso has detailed the work that managing technical partner Newey is putting in to try and turn the fortunes of the team around.

"I mean, we speak with him every week, so you know it's not that we are not updated on things," Alonso told media, including RacingNews365.

"When he comes to the track he is always meticulously into the feedback of the driver and try to understand exactly what is what is going on in each of the corners.

"I think he's thinking ahead of time, so he's thinking what the new package will bring to that, the specific problems that we are experiencing (in Monaco) and not only this one.

"He's thinking for the Singapore package, what can be done for the next street circuit, and things like that.

"So we have the best with us, so the more time we spend with him on track, the better it will be."
