Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has admitted he is expecting the team to be fined after being placed under investigation at Spa-Francorchamps.
The Italian squad has been flagged for an alleged infringement of Article 6.4.2. of the sporting regulations.
This reads: “Any set of electronically returned tyres must also be physically returned to the Tyre Supplier before the start of the following session.”
While Ferrari successfully returned their tyres electronically after FP1, it failed to deliver the actual structures to Pirelli before the start of FP2.
It has resulted in an investigation from the stewards - but Vasseur does not believe it is in danger of being issued a grid drop.
“We were late,” Vasseur said after the session. “It will be a fine.”
Lewis Hamilton was the fastest of the two Ferraris at the end of FP2, ending the session in fourth place.
His team-mate Charles Leclerc, however, could only muster 11th.
Reacting to the day of running at Spa, Vasseur said: “It went pretty well this morning.
“A bit more difficult this afternoon, but it's relative. We know that fuel is very important in terms of competitiveness.
“It means that we can't compare with the others. We focus on ourselves, try to get the best out of it and we will see tomorrow.”
