The FIA has issued a statement clarifying that its contract with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest for the promotion of the World Endurance Championship remains "in place until the end of 2027."
A report was published on Thursday from respected German publication Auto Motor Und Sport stating that a contract for the promotion of the WEC was not in place for 2027, and that a public tender could be opened.
This would have meant that the Le Mans 24 Hours would not have been on the calendar with a new promoter, as that race is owned and run by the ACO.
The governing body has now rejected that claim and has clarified that the WEC will be promoted by the ACO in 2027, whilst a new contract is agreed for 2028 and beyond.
It is also understood by RacingNews365 that there were inconsistencies within the original AMUS report.
"The FIA World Endurance Championship has enjoyed sustained growth since the introduction of the Hypercar and LMGT3 regulations, competing this season across seven countries," began the statement, issued to RacingNews365.
"This achievement is the result of extensive collaboration between drivers, teams, manufacturers, the FIA, the promoter, the ACO and the millions of fans who follow the championship.
"The FIA and ACO are continuing discussions regarding an extension of the promoter agreement. The current agreement with ACO remains in place until the end of 2027."
