George Russell has hailed feeling like himself again as a "really important" boost, having made a very positive return from the summer break.
The Briton secured second on the grid for the Dutch Grand Prix shortly after converting Sprint pole into a sprint win, reducing his deficit to Kimi Antonelli.
Russell has looked back to his best in Zandvoort after a series of difficult races prior to the summer break, which could not have come at a better time for the Mercedes driver.
He had hoped to clinch pole at the Dutch circuit but fell one-tenth shy of Lando Norris' quickest lap, which secured the reigning world champion the best spot on the grid.
Despite missing out on pole, Russell was pleased with his qualifying and, crucially, how he felt in the car.
"Lando did a great job, so congrats to him and McLaren. It was a strong session," said Russell.
"I thought we had it in there to fight for pole, but I’m pretty satisfied with P2, especially going back after such a tough last few races before the break, sort of get in my groove again and try to fight with them tomorrow.
"I feel in a good place and just sort of feel myself again, which is really important. It was really nice to drive around here, and these cooler temperatures made the track feel really fast.
"So, it was a real joy for us all to drive, and looking forward to the race."
