Hadjar to miss Spanish GP, Lawson to keep seat

Liam Lawson will continue to deputise for Red Bull's injured Isak Hadjar at the first ever Madrid Grand Prix, the team confirmed on Monday.

Lawson had stepped up from junior team Racing Bulls at the Dutch and Italian GPs after Hadjar suffered a wrist injury during a training session in August.

He will do so again for a third consecutive weekend for a race at the all-new Madring circuit.

As was the case at the last two races, Yuki Tsunoda will continue to deputise at Racing Bulls in Lawson's place.

Red Bull said that although Hadjar has continued to "progress positively" in his rehab, he is not yet ready to return.

Lawson's appearance in Hadjar's place at Monza had made it likely he would stay in the seat for this weekend's race given the tight turnaround between events.

Red Bull have not given a timeline on when they expect to have Hadjar back in the car.

After Madrid, F1 will race at Baku's Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sep. 26.
