Seven races into his Cadillac tenure, Sergio Perez sits 21st in the standings with zero points to his name. On paper, that is damning. Dig deeper, though, and the picture changes.
The Mexican has consistently outperformed teammate Valtteri Bottas, dragged a backmarker car into points contention in Monaco, and only lost what would have been Cadillac's maiden point to a post-race penalty.
He has, by all accounts, been wringing every last tenth out of a car that simply does not have the pace to compete further up the grid.
That has not gone unnoticed. According to RacingNews365 sources, interest from several teams has recently intensified, with Williams and Aston Martin both among the suitors keeping a close eye on the 36-year-old for 2027.
Perez remains contracted to Cadillac through the end of next season, but the paddock is already speculating about whether his talents are being wasted at the back.
The question, then, is straightforward: does Perez still belong in a stronger team, or is Cadillac the right fit for this stage of his career?
