Liam Lawson recalls heartbreaking letter in racing sacrifice

Liam Lawson has recalled the family sacrifices made for him to following his racing dream.

Liam Lawson has recalled a heartbreaking card written by his brother to their father as he detailed the sacrifices made by his family.

Lawson has previously explained that his parents, Jared and Kristy, had to sell their house to help pay for his karting as he climbed up the ladder, before being taken on by the Red Bull programme in early 2019, then moving to Europe.

Going further on the sacrifices made by his family to allow him to follow his dream, Lawson recalled a card written by his younger brother Marcos, asking their father Jared, that if he liked racing, would he spend more time with him.

"Thank you," Lawson began when asked if he had a message for his family on the High Performance podcast.

"I feel like I'll never be able to almost repay the amount of sacrifice, and it's not just about money.

"My dad, my parents found this card recently, like a year ago, that my brother had written my dad, my brother's two years younger than me.

"We found this card that he'd written when he was like five years old or six years old, and the card was like: 'Dear dad, if I like racing, will you spend more time with me, like Liam?'

"Like honestly, like for my siblings and family that have just given up so much, like time with my dad, and never going on holiday, never doing anything, just always, yeah, I have an amazing family."
