Max Verstappen cites 'logical' move for Nürburgring 24 Hours revenge bid

Will Max Verstappen be back in action at the Nürburgring 24 Hours in 2027? That's the big question after his debut this year. Much will depend on how the F1 calendar plays out.

Max Verstappen is eager to return to the Nürburgring 24 Hours next year, and believes it would be "logical" for the F1 calendar to accommodate his participation.

The four-time champion made his debut at the famous endurance race recently, alongside teammates Jules Gounon, Lucas Auer, and Dani Juncadella.

Verstappen appeared to be on course for victory before a driveshaft failure dropped the squad down to 38th place, leaving him with unfinished business on the Nordschleife.

The Nürburgring has already confirmed that the 2027 edition of its flagship race will take place on the weekend of May 29 and 30. Reports have so far indicated there will be no conflict with the F1 calendar, which has yet to be officially published.

When asked whether the result has left him hungry for another attempt, Verstappen was unequivocal. "Yes, absolutely. That was always the goal, of course," he told Viaplay.

"This is just the beginning. It would have been nice if we had won that race straight away, because the chance was very big."

Asked whether he has the influence to shape the calendar in his favour, the 28-year-old was measured in his response. "Not power, but I think it would be nice and logical if that were possible."

Verstappen acknowledged that nothing is certain just yet. "Well, we'll see. I don't know."
