Max Verstappen clarifies 2026 plans for the Nordschleife

Max Verstappen has competed at the Nordschleife on several occasions in the last year as he explores racing opportunities outside F1.

Max Verstappen has confirmed that he does not expect to have any other competitive outings at the Nordschleife this year.

Verstappen had a couple of outings in the early stages of 2026 in preparation for the Nurburgring 24 Hours last month.

The four-time champion's ventures at the famous track drew considerable focus on the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS), and offered Verstappen another chance to race away from F1.

While the famous 24-hour race is in the books, there are plenty more NLS races at the Nordschleife coming up.

However, the Dutchman has indicated that he will not be part of such outings due to a clash with another GT championship.

"No, because I think those (NLS races] clash with GT World Challenge races,” Verstappen told select media including RacingNews365.

“So that’s not going to happen."

Verstappen pointed to that particular championship as his Nurburgring team-mates Dani Juncadella, Jules Gounon, and Lucas Auer are active in the GT World Challenge.

Chris Lulham, another driver Verstappen has partnered around the Nordschleife, is in the same situation.

Verstappen's race schedule is also pretty hectic in the coming months as the F1 championship kicks into gear after a stop-start opening few months to the campaign.
