Max Verstappen urged to enter iconic motorsport event

Max Verstappen has ruled out any further major endurance events in 2026, but there is a significant one at the start of 2027 in the United States.

Max Verstappen's growing appetite for endurance racing has captured the imagination of the Formula 1 fanbase, with an overwhelming majority of RacingNews365 readers voting in favour of the four-time world champion entering the 2027 Daytona 24 Hours.

A remarkable 88.2 per cent of respondents said it would be "an excellent opportunity" for Verstappen, while just 7.9 per cent felt he should prioritise his F1 preparations with Red Bull. A further 4.9 per cent were undecided.

The result is hardly surprising. Verstappen's Nürburgring Nordschleife GT3 programme this season, which culminated in a start at the iconic 24-hour race, has only fuelled enthusiasm for what comes next.

Reports suggest Daytona, Le Mans and the Spa 24 Hours all remain on his wish list, with the Dutchman reportedly open to pursuing major endurance events in parallel with his F1 career rather than waiting until retirement.

No concrete plans for a 2027 Daytona entry have been confirmed, but the appetite from fans is clear.

The Rolex 24, held in late January, would slot neatly before the start of the F1 season, though Verstappen has acknowledged that any winter endurance commitment would require reshaping his pre-season training schedule.

For now, it remains an idea rather than a firm commitment, but the fans have spoken.
