Mercedes reverse decision over Monaco GP Right of Review

Mercedes was granted an FIA hearing earlier this weekend after it lodged a Right of Review - but it has now changed its approach.

Mercedes has confirmed that it has withdrawn its Right of Review request relating to the results of the Monaco Grand Prix.

The FIA confirmed earlier this week that it had granted the Brackley-based squad a hearing date after it lodged a protest.

Pierre Gasly and Alpine had two five-second time penalties for speeding in the pit lane overturned several days after the Monaco race, after the FIA reviewed the data from the timing loops managed by FOM.

It reinstated Gasly to the podium, but other teams, who were deemed guilty of the same offence, could not appeal as they served their penalties while making pit stops during the race.

Alpine had leverage to protest its penalties as they were only applied after the chequered flag.

During the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix event last weekend, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff confirmed it had filed a Right of Review after George Russell was handed a penalty for pit lane speeding.

Mercedes was deemed to have served the penalty incorrectly, resulting in a drive-through penalty and a demotion out of the point-paying positions.

The FIA was due to hear from a Mercedes representative on Saturday, June 20 - but this will no longer proceed.

The stewards' report read: "The Stewards have been informed by Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team that they are withdrawing the petition for Review in respect of the decisions of the Stewards of the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, breach of Article B1.6.3a of the FIA F1 Regulations in relation to Car 63."
