New Cadillac team principal Marcin Budkowski has addressed the outfit's current partnership with Ferrari, one of many brands he plans to speak to at this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix.
It was announced by Formula 1's newest outfit ahead of the sport's return at Zandvoort following the summer break that it had made a change of leadership.
Budkowski, who had been a TV pundit since 2023 after leaving Alpine a year prior, has replaced Graeme Lowdon, who put the team together and onto the grid.
The announcement came as a huge surprise, with it also being Budkowski's first team boss role in F1. Like many in the sport now, Budkowski's background is in engineering.
The Pole has worked for some of the biggest teams in the sport, including Prost, Ferrari, McLaren and Alpine, giving him experience of working for both manufacturers and customer outfits.
Earlier this week, Budkowski visited Cadillac's headquarters and plans to meet partners in Zandvoort, including Ferrari, with whom the 49-year-old is very pleased with the power unit it is supplying to the team.
The challenge for Budkowski is understanding how long the American outfit needs to be powered by the Scuderia, as Cadillac has ambitions to become its own engine supplier.
Discussing his experience of working for customer teams before, Budkowski told select media, including RacingNews365: "Yeah, I mean, I also have knowledge of working with a manufacturer team, and this is what this team will become in a few years' time when the time is right and when we have a little bit more clarity also on where we're going with the engine regulations, which is challenging at the moment.
"But I hope to have a few discussions already this weekend with the higher instances of the sport to get up to speed because I haven't been part of these discussions for a while, to understand the direction.
"But we're happy with the relationship with Ferrari, and the power unit is competitive. I think the relationship is going well.
"So that's, for the time being, how we're set up, and we're happy with Ferrari as a partner."
