Oliver Bearman will not take part in qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix after his crash at the end of the final free practice session.
Haas was unable to sufficiently repair his car in time for the grid-setting session at the Madring, which means the British driver will start Sunday's race from the rear of the field.
The 21-year-old found the wall at Turn 11 with less than a minute of FP3 remaining, a session in which he finished P13, half a tenth adrift of team-mate Esteban Ocon.
Minutes before qualifying was due to get underway, the boards were up at the Haas driver's garage, and little work appeared to be happening on his car.
Just as the session got going, the American team confirmed the inevitable.
"Ollie Bearman will not participate in qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix as a result of the damage sustained to his VF-26," the team said.
It is not yet clear what the extent of the repairs that will need to take place are, but if a chassis change has been required, Bearman would not have been able to take part in qualifying anyway, as the team would have to self-scutineer, and that process cannot be done between sessions.
