Oscar Piastri addresses late intense Lando Norris battle

Oscar Piastri was looking good for fourth in Monza, before a last lap move by Lando Norris.

Oscar Piastri has addressed his late fight with Lando Norris during the Italian Grand Prix, describing it as a "good battle".

The Australian had qualified in third but started from sixth following a three-place grid penalty for impeding Liam Lawson. However, he did appear towards the front at times.

Piastri was in with an outside chance of finishing third at stages in Monza, although he lost significant time while fighting Lewis Hamilton mid-race.

Nevertheless, he looked set to at least finish fourth in the final laps, behind both Mercedes and Max Verstappen.

However, Norris found pace right at the end and overtook Piastri on the final lap to snatch fourth position.

Piastri thought he would have the opportunity to fight back on the last lap after being overtaken, but unfortunately, the chance never came.

Discussing the late fight with Norris, Piastri told select media, including RacingNews365: "Yeah, I mean, it was a good battle.

"It was a lot of back and forth, and on the last lap, you never really know what to do with the energy.

"I think we went for different strategies with that, and he got past, and I thought I'd have a chance to get back past again. But ultimately, I just didn't quite get there.

"So, yeah, it's always a bit of a gamble with these cars. But yeah, I definitely know for next time what I would do differently."
