Oscar Piastri manager brands McLaren F1 exit talk as 'nonsense'

Oscar Piastri's manager, Mark Webber, has branded talk that the Australian is looking to leave McLaren as "nonsense."

With Max Verstappen being heavily linked to McLaren in recent weeks, Piastri's name has been suggested as the driver who would make way should the bombshell move ever materialise. 

However, as RacingNews365 wrote earlier in the week, it is understood from sources that "nothing has changed" in relation to Piastri's relationship with McLaren, who is into his fourth season with the team in 2026.

Reacting to the rumours of a potential exit, Piastri's manager, former Red Bull driver and nine-time grand prix winner Webber branded such talk as "fiction" and "nonsense."

"Oscar is contracted to McLaren for the foreseeable future," Webber told RACER

"Talk of him agitating to leave is nonsense.

"There has been a lot of fiction written about him and other teams.

"McLaren have repeatedly said they want him for the long term and Oscar is focused on that."
