Red Bull bosses set to meet the FIA president on motorsport interests

Senior Red Bull figures are set to meet with FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem over the British Grand Prix weekend, RacingNews365 understands. 

According to multiple well-placed sources, the topic of the meeting will be Red Bull’s involvement in various forms of motor racing.  

The senior figures from Red Bull GmbH, the parent company of Red Bull Racing, are Oliver Mintzlaff and Mark Mateschitz.


Mintzlaff is the CEO of corporate projects at Red Bull GmbH - and oversees the F1 projects of both Red Bull and Racing Bulls - whilst Mateschitz is the son of late former owner Dietrich Mateschitz, and holds a 49% share in Red Bull GmbH.  

Although F1 is Red Bull's flagship motorsport project, it is also heavily involved in other FIA world championships.

It held the commercial rights of the World Rally Championship (WRC) as a partner for a decade, and while the change in ownership is currently underway, it also holds a significant interest and involvement in FIA European Rallycross Championship (Euro RX), as well as other series.


In June, Mintzlaff previously met with Ben Sulayem in Paris, where they discussed Red Bull's involvement in motorsport, and according to RacingNews365's sources, they will continue the talks started back then during the Silverstone weekend.


It is understood from sources with knowledge of the plans that one topic to be discussed will be the situation regarding ADUO - and the surprise of Red Bull that its power unit was judged to be the strongest in terms of the Internal Combustion Engine power output.  

The FIA has not yet officially published the final outcome of the awarding of ADUO, with Lewis Hamilton revealing after the Monaco GP that Red Bull Powertrains (RBPT) had been judged the strongest, with Mercedes HPP, Audi, Ferrari, and Honda believed to have received upgrade tokens. 

According to RacingNews365's sources, Red Bull Racing’s representatives have held meetings with the FIA's technical team multiple times over the previous few weeks about ADUO, and the talks will continue after the Silverstone weekend.


However, the main topic of the meeting in Silverstone between Mintzlaff, Mateschitz, and Ben Sulayem will be Red Bull’s involvement in the various categories of motor racing.
