Former F1 driver David Coulthard has stated Red Bull is facing a “good problem” when it comes to the future of its driver line-up.
While question marks continue to swirl over the future of Max Verstappen, his team-mate Isack Hadjar has performed admirably alongside the four-time champion.
At the sister Racing Bulls' squad, both Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad have been frequent point scorers, lifting the team to sixth in the constructors' championship.
And waiting in the wings at Red Bull is junior driver Nikola Tsolov, who currently leads the Formula 2 standings, having won his third successive race last weekend at Silverstone.
As Red Bull evaluates how best to manage the line-up going forward with only four seats available, Coulthard insisted it is a positive issue to have.
“It's a good problem to have,” Coulthard said.
“I guess there's always a possibility if they're happy with the others, they could help position him [Tsolov] somewhere else.”
Throughout its history, Red Bull has promoted numerous drivers to its F1 set-up, with some of the most successful examples being Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel.
Coulthard does not see the programme ceasing its activities anytime soon.
“Red Bull is ahead of the game in terms of their motorsports investment and drivers over the history of time, if you look at what they've invested and now what the valuations are,” he said.
“I don't think they're thinking 'we're getting to the limit of what we can afford to invest in this'.
“It's a good problem to have. Listen for that name, Nikola Tsolov from Bulgaria.
“He drives very well, is great personality out of the car as well, so looking forward to seeing him in F1.”
