Red Bull hold potential key joker ahead of British Grand Prix

Red Bull holds a potential strategic advantage over the other leading F1 teams at the British Grand Prix with it tyres.

Due to start in fifth with Isack Hadjar and seventh for Max Verstappen, both drivers currently hold two brand-new sets of the medium tyres, compared to just one for the Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren drivers.

Pirelli's prediction is for a one-stop strategy, starting on the medium tyres, running until Lap 24-30 of 52, before switching over to the hard rubber.

An alternative is to run mediums until Laps 29-35 before switching to the soft tyres - although none of the front runners hold a fresh set of the red-marked rubber.

In case of a late safety car or red flag period, Red Bull's second set of fresh mediums could be a prized asset against the used tyres of its rivals.
