Should Ferrari appoint Christian Horner as its next team principal?

Christian Horner recently made no secret of his interest in Ferrari, claiming he would waive his demand for an ownership stake for one team and one team only - the Scuderia!

"I did 21 years sitting on the pit wall. I don't need to go back to that," Horner said in an interview with The Times. "At this stage in my life, there's only one team for which I would accept non-participation in ownership."

As to the team, in particular, he added: "Would I consider Ferrari? I mean, Ferrari is the biggest brand in Formula 1. It's the dream. And arguably it's the sleeping giant of Formula 1."

The 52-year-old, who left Red Bull last September after a negotiated settlement after being axed two months previously, is a free agent, believing "there's another dance" in him where F1 is concerned.

But is Ferrari the right move if the team opts to get rid of Vasseur, whose own contract is understood to run to the end of 2027?

Speculation was rife in the Baku paddock over the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend, with Vasseur addressing the Horner rumours after the race.

"Mr. Horner is looking for a job, everybody knows, everywhere," said Vasseur. "But what can I do? Just to try to do my best to push the team, to ask them to be motivated, focus on what is better today, and not to spend time with gossip."

It is clear, however, that Vasseur is growing annoyed by questions about his future, with speculation that he could be out at the end of the season after another disappointing campaign for the Maranello squad.

"We are not working in perfect serenity, if that is the question for me first and for everybody in the team, for the media," he said. "Fifty per cent of the questions are about this, and that is a bit of a frustrating situation."

Horner achieved remarkable success at Red Bull over his two decades at the helm, but would he really be a good fit?
