McLaren brings four-part upgrade package to São Paulo Grand Prix
The aerodynamic changes target performance rather than reliability, according to FIA documentation.
Formula Report

McLaren has brought a four-part aerodynamic upgrade package to the São Paulo Grand Prix as it pursues third in the constructors’ championship. Several outlets report that it is the only team introducing upgrades at Interlagos.
The package comprises a new front wing, rear wing and beam wing, alongside a modified floor. Crash.net reports that the front and rear wing changes are the most substantial elements.
RacingNews365 reports that the front wing is intended to manage airflow across its elements, improving the flow reaching the floor and sidepod bodywork.
The rear wing was developed specifically for the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend and aims to increase aerodynamic load efficiently across different conditions. An entirely new beam wing is designed to work with it, improving the interaction between the rear wing and surrounding airflow.
The relatively small floor modification is intended to improve airflow around the floor. RacingNews365 reports that it also targets more stable underfloor airflow and balance inconsistencies experienced in recent rounds.
McLaren’s chief technical officer for aerodynamics, Peter Prodromou, said: “The aim is to make up ground, improve our performance over the remaining races and build momentum into next year.”
Prodromou said: “While the learning we take from these upgrades will feed into next year’s development, we also expect to carry over the concept of the new front wing into the launch specification of next year’s car.”
McLaren is fourth in the constructors’ standings, close to Red Bull but having lost ground in recent weeks. The team has gone five races without a podium.
Three rounds remain after Brazil in the 2026 season. Regulations will remain relatively stable into 2027, allowing teams to carry learning from their current development work into next year.
