F1 boss Stefano Domenicali handed huge Olympics honour

It's not every day you get handed such an honour. But with the Winter Olympics just around the corner, F1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali was afforded an opportunity he simply could not refuse. With the Games on home soil in Italy running from February 6-22, Domenicali has played his part in carrying the Olympic Torch to Milan Cortina, where the 25th Olympiad will be staged. Domenicali carried the flame to Lake Carezza. It is certainly different than being in Barcelona for the first pre-season test ahead of the 2026 F1 season! Ferrari officially commenced its test programme on Tuesday at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya. After the launch of the SF-26 at Fiorano on Friday, when Lewis Hamilton initially took to the wheel before Charles Leclerc followed suit later in the day, it was the Monégasque who was afforded the first opportunity to put the car through its paces at a grand prix track. As Hamilton looked on, Leclerc at least had a dry track to conduct a few laps before a switch to Pirelli's wet-weather tyres as the rain set in late morning. After lunch, Hamilton later took over from Leclerc, although the seven-time F1 champion also had to contend with a wet track. First three teams hit track in F1 2026 pre-season testing

On-track action for the 2026 F1 season began on Monday morning as the green flag was waved at the end of the pit lane in Barcelona. All F1 teams bar Williams are set up in the Spanish paddock as part of the first pre-season test of the year this week. Held over five days, each team allocates three days in which they will take to the track where they are free to conduct as much running as they like. The outing got underway on Monday, with Mercedes being the first team out on the track. The Brackley-based squad was closely followed by Audi who is embarking on its debut F1 season. Finally, Alpine made it onto the circuit to complete the first trio of teams to get the year underway. Oliver Bearman spins in Haas F1 shakedown

Oliver Bearman suffered an unfortunate moment as he put the new Haas through its first paces in a shakedown at Fiorano. Lewis Hamilton shows off new F1 'active aero' as 2026 Ferrari makes debut

Lewis Hamilton has become the first F1 driver to showcase the new active aerodynamics to be used in the 2026 season. Hamilton was on-track at Fiorano on Friday as Ferrari's new 2026 machine had its first on-track shakedown shortly after it was launched. The seven-time champion on his laps in the car before handing over to Charles Leclerc for his allotted laps used the new active aerodynamics, with this being caught on camera for the first time. During the shakedowns for Audi, Cadillac, Racing Bulls, Mercedes, and Alpine, no footage of the new movable wings was captured or shown. Formula 1 has announced the release date for the latest season of the Netflix show Drive to Survive.  Launching in 2018, the latest instalment of the popular series will air globally on Friday, February 27th. That is the week before the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. Alpine footage leaked of soaked Silverstone shakedown

Alpine's 2026 Formula 1 car – the A526 – has been spotted conducting a shakedown at Silverstone, the home of the British Grand Prix. In typical British weather, the Enstone-based outfit's running was completed in extremely wet conditions, with leaked footage appearing to show Pierre Gasly behind the wheel.  The French squad has become a Mercedes customer for the new power unit regulations and will officially unveil its livery on Friday.  However, leaked footage of Alpine's shakedown running appears to already show its new design, once again consisting of blue and pink. The footage shows Gasly driving through the Maggots, Becketts and the Chapel curve, with the noise of Mercedes' new F1 power unit being noticeable.
