IndyCar rookie and a former F1 hopeful headline Formula E rookie practice
IndyCar rookie Dennis Hauger and former Formula 1 hopeful Théo
Pourchaire headline next Friday’s Formula E rookie practice session
in Miami. A 40-minute practice session designated for rookie
drivers will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium ahead of first
practice for next weekend’s Miami E-Prix, the third round of the
Formula E season. In the past, each team has been allowed to run
one car; however, it was recently decided that both cars could be
used. Despite this, only Nissan will field two drivers in the
11-driver session. Reigning Indy NXT champion Hauger is one of the
standout names in the session, with the Norwegian to drive for
Andretti ahead of his competitive IndyCar debut in early March.
Hauger raced for Andretti Global in the IndyCar feeder series last
year, with the 22-year-old having been awarded a seat at Dale Coyne
Racing, which has entered into a technical alliance with Andretti.
The Miami session will not be his first experience in Formula E,
having driven for Porsche in the 2024 Berlin rookie test. 2023
Formula 2 champion Pourchaire holds the most Formula E experience
among those featuring in the rookie test, with the Peugeot World
Endurance Championship driver having made several test appearances
in Gen3 machinery. In Miami, the Frenchman will drive for
Stellantis-owned Citroën. In the other Stellantis-owned outfit, DS
Penske will field GB3 driver Nikita Bedrin, who is part of its
driver development programme. Due to being classed as a rookie
until the end of the season, Pepe Martí has been handed an extra
session by Cupra Kiro , offering the Spaniard a key advantage.
Following her impressive women’s test appearance last October,
Mahindra will again run F1 Academy driver Chloe Chambers, with Abbi
Pulling at Nissan making it two female drivers in the session.
Reigning DTM champion Ayhancan Güven will again run for Porsche as
he looks to stake a strong claim for a full-time Formula E seat
next season in the German manufacturer’s new second factory outfit
for Gen4. Formula 3 and Williams Academy driver Alessandro Giusti
will drive for Jaguar, while Formula 2’s Gabriele Mini, like
Pulling, will return with Nissan once again. Elsewhere, Super
Formula star Zak O’Sullivan is set for another outing with
Envision, with Lola running its simulator driver, former Formula 3
racer Hugh Barter. Check out the full list below! Formula E Miami
